Weiss Tech House Social Entrepreneurship Series
SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP:
Seeking Profits and Alleviating Social Problems
Weiss Tech House and Delta Sigma Pi Presents:
Adam Stein
Co-Founder, Terrapass
About Adam Stein
Adam Stein is Vice President of Marketing at TerraPass. Adam is a 2005 MBA graduate of the Wharton School, where, in addition to co-founding TerraPass, he served as a Vice President of the school's Net Impact chapter.
Prior to Wharton, Adam served in a variety of positions at technology start-ups. At Tellme Networks, Adam was as a senior product manager and founded the company's professional services group. At Trilogy Software, Adam was a senior consultant responsible for some of the company's largest client accounts.
Adam enjoys the outdoors. Favorite expeditions include camping in Patagonia; a 10-day trek in the Gates of the Arctic national park, accessible only by bush plane; and the summitting of several decently-sized mountains in Ecuador. Adam also once rode a bicycle across the better part of Asia, a trip he wouldn't mind doing again some day.
Adam holds a BS in biology from Stanford University.
The TerraPass Story
TerraPass is the brainchild of Dr. Karl Ulrich at the University of Pennsylvania. Along with 41 of his students, Karl launched TerraPass in October, 2004 as a way to help everyday people reduce the climate impact of their driving. Within its first year, TerraPass registered over 2,400 members, reduced 36 million pounds of CO2, and earned countless national press and blog articles.
TerraPass has grown steadily over the past few years. It is a small staff in a nice office near the Bay Bridge in downtown San Francisco. More importantly, Terrapass has sold over 65,000 TerraPasses, resulting in the reduction of over 500 million pounds of carbon dioxide emissions.
The goals are lofty – Terrapass wants to reach one million members and offset ten billion pounds of CO2 emissions. We want to serve as inspiration to businesses and governments. Care to come along for the ride?

Film: "As Real As Your Life" by Michael Highland
Ever wonder what some of the most talented Penn students do in their spare time? Didn't think that the Weiss Tech House had an artistic side? Come see Michael Highland's feature film "As Real as Your Life" and see what you have been missing!
Michael Highland, a candidate for a degree in Digital Media Design at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania, is an accomplished film producer, artist, and designer who has chronicled his addiction to video games in his feature film "As Real as Your Life". This film, half documentary and half narrative, integrates Highland's ability to produce original, artistic, and tasteful film with his perception of how video games have potentially molded and morphed our society. Beyond his sociological assertions, Mr. Highland has successfully captured the essence of the modern video game addict in film, and has received wide acclaim at TED2006, the Game Developers Conference, America's Video Game Expo, and the Cannes Film Festival. Portraying the ramifications of newfound technologies in his art, Highland has achieved much and will continue to develop his entrepreneurial talents through the Weiss Tech House and YOU.

PROACTIV SOLUTION
Interested in hearing how world-renown Proactiv Solution got started?
Want to know what it takes to launch your idea?
Come hear how Co-developer of Proactiv Solution, a highly successful acne skin care system for adults and teens, launched her idea.
Dr. Rodan's entrepreneurial experience with ProActiv(R) Solution began more than 20 years ago when she met Dr. Fields during their dermatology residencies at Stanford University.
