Treasure Hunt

Win over $1,000 in prizes and apply for up to $80K more at the Weiss Tech House!

The Innovation Week Treasure Hunt is a creative, trivia-based adventure designed to promote the resources available at Weiss Tech House. It encourages the Penn community to attend Innovation Week events, and to inform Penn students about the history of innovation at Penn with the incentive of $1,000 in prizes.

General Overview

Participants must register on www.penniweek.com, on Locust Walk, or at the Kick-off to participate. The Treasure Hunt consists of daily and event questions. Teams can access the daily questions by logging on to the website, and event questions can only be accessed by those who attend the respective events. Students can win prizes by registering, answering the daily questions, attending events, and answering specific questions about the events. At the end, a Weiss Tech House survey will be posted for teams to complete.
All participants who register and attend the Kick-Off Monday will be entered in a raffle to win a Weiss Tech House Gift Basket.

Also, all participants who correctly answer the day’s daily questions will be entered in a raffle to win Daily Prizes.

Note that participants can enter Innovation Week until Wednesday, November 9th, and be entered for the daily prizes (where they have answered the questions correctly) as well as the grand prize.

Registration is now closed.

How to accumulate points:
The Treasure Hunt is a point based system (56 points total) with points awarded by:
1. Attending Treasure Hunt Kick-off (2 points)
2. Attending Innovation Week events (Monday-Friday, 20 points total)
3. Answering daily questions online (2 per day, 16 points total)
4. Answering event-specific questions after attending events (16 points total)
5. Completing the Innovation Week survey (2 points total)

Point System Structure
Participants can earn points in a variety of ways: by attending events, by answering daily questions online, by answering specific questions about the events they attended, and by completing a survey.

Students will (if they haven’t already) register on www.penniweek.com to participate in the Treasure Hunt. Upon registering, each student will be entered in a randomized raffle where 10 Weiss Tech House Gift Baskets will be given out.

The first set of daily questions will be posted for students to answer by 12am (midnight) Monday; after that, the questions will be taken down. Students can log in at www.penniweek.com to submit their answers. Each day, all participants who correctly answer the daily questions will be entered in a raffle to win the Daily Prizes.

The first event students can attend will be “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?” on Monday, November 5th from 6:00-7:30pm at the Weiss Tech House. Only students who attend will be able to answer the event-specific questions, which will be posted online shortly after the event.

Guidelines/Rules
  1. Registration for the Treasure Hunt will begin on Thursday, November 1st at 8 AM and end on Wednesday, November 9th at midnight.
  2. All participants must be full or part-time, undergraduate or graduate Penn students.
  3. Participants must be at the Weiss Tech House on Monday, November 5th for the Treasure Hunt Kick-off at 5:30 to accumulate 2 points.
  4. Daily answers to questions must be submitted online by midnight of that day to receive credit.
  5. The survey must completed by noon on Friday, November 9th to receive credit.
  6. Participants must work individually.
  7. Participants must be present at the award reception at the Weiss Tech House on Friday, November 9th to receive one of the prizes. You do not have to be present to win the raffle.
  8. Winners will be selected based on the total points attained throughout the Treasure Hunt. There are a total of 56 points possible. In case of a tie, the participant who attended more events will win. If there is still a tie, the participant who answered more daily questions and event questions correctly will win. If there are multiple teams, all with 56 points, a random drawing will take place to see who is 1st place, then 2nd place, and so on.
  9. Students involved in planning Innovation Week are ineligible to participate in the Treasure Hunt. This includes students on Team Switch, the WTH Student Directors, all WTH chairs and all students on the WTH Marketing Committee.
  10. Previous winners of Innovation Week are eligible to win daily raffle prizes, but are not eligible to win any of the top prizes.
  11. Participants who win the daily raffle prizes are still eligible to win the top prizes.
  12. If you win a prize, you can not request or substitute a prize for another.
  13. If you win a prize, you win the prize, not the cash value. The WTH will not give out cash in place of a prize.
  14. If any of the rules mentioned above are broken, individuals may be disqualified.
