PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 17, 2007 -- The Weiss Tech House, a student-run hub of technological innovation at the University of Pennsylvania, announced today that Katie P. Rodan, M.D., co-developer of ProActiv(R) Solution, will kick off its 2007-2008 speaker series when she addresses students about entrepreneurship and innovation on Sept. 27, 2007 at 6:00PM. The event will be held in the Wu Chen Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering and will be followed by an interactive Question and Answer session.

Dr. Rodan will speak with Penn students about her successful entrepreneurial efforts to develop a highly successful acne skin care system for adults and teens called ProActiv(R) Solution, which she launched with co-developer Kathy Fields, M.D., in 1995. This product continues to monopolize the acne skin care market as it offers a solution for both treatment and prevention. Proactiv(R) Solution has been used by over twelve million people, positioning Dr. Rodan in the forefront of acne treatment in the medical community.

Dr. Rodan's entrepreneurial experience with ProActiv(R) Solution began more than 20 years ago when she met Dr. Fields during their dermatology residencies at Stanford University. Both doctors felt strongly about the importance of finding a better treatment for acne and they stayed in touch after establishing their own private practices. This shared commitment and drive led them to create ProActiv(R) Solution and address a considerable unmet medical need for their patients. Entrepreneurial success followed as the doctors were able to translate that medical need into market demand.

A well-recognized expert in her field, Dr. Rodan has been interviewed, featured or quoted in many national magazines, including Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Self, McCall's, Allure, Teen, Cosmogirl, Oprah, Redbook, Mirabella, Elle and Reader's Digest. She has been featured in People, Elle, More, and Harper's Baazar magazines.
