Local and Student Entrepreneurs Gather to Develop Ideas
October 28, 2008 (Philadelphia, PA) - The Weiss Tech House, a student-run hub of technological innovation at the University of Pennsylvania, will host its Third Annual Innovation Week during the week of November 3-7, 2008. Innovation Week was designed for students with a broad range of academic and technological interests. This student-led initiative will celebrate Penn's history of innovation and encourage students from across the University to harness technological innovation for the greater good. Local entrepreneurs, alumni inventors and faculty converge to share their expertise in a series of events designed to help students develop their innovative ideas. Last year, the program was an overwhelming success, garnering strong participation from all schools at Penn.
The schedule of events for Innovation Week 2008 is:
Monday, November 3rd - Idea Slam 2008 – 6:00pm - Weiss Tech House – provides an outlet for students to pitch their newly formed ideas in front of a crowd of their peers.
Tuesday, November 4th - Technology and the Election – 7:00pm – Weiss Tech House - Watch live coverage of the elections and talk about the impact of technology in the presidential race.
Wednesday, November 5th - Keynote Speaker: Ken Glass - 6:30pm - Wu & Chen Auditorium - "Past, Present and Future of Innovative Technologies and the Angel Investor" - Ken Glass (M&T '82) will discuss his career that spans from Microsoft to Bell Labs, from startups to angel investing! Event co-sponsored by Integrated Product Design program.
Thursday, November 6th - How to Network – 7:00pm - Weiss Tech House - Blake Jennelle, CEO of Anthillz.com and Founder of Philly Startup Leaders, will teach you how to become a networking superstar.
Afterwards, there will be a networking event to test your new skills!
Friday, November 7th - Treasure Hunt Closing Event – 12:00pm - Weiss Tech House - Claim our grand prizes at the Innovation Week closing ceremony!
